MOST SURPRISING ROYALS

NUMBER 3 – ALEX GORDON

Royals fans love Alex Gordon and it was painful watching him struggle after signing the largest contract in franchise history. That’s why it’s even more of a joy to see Gordon figure things out and rebound in 2019.

Through 320 at bats this season, Gordon is slashing .275/.352/.447 with ten home runs and 55 RBI. He’s still playing great defense too, which is impressive considering he’s nearing the end of his career.

With Gordon’s resurgent season, perhaps there’s a chance that the former Cornhusker opts to re-sign with the Royals during the offseason. He can veto any trade that the Royals bring up, so it’s likely that Gordon ends his career in Kansas City, whether it’s this year or next year.

Either way, it’s been a pleasant surprise to watch Gordo regain his form at the plate.
