The Kansas City Royals aren’t having a good season, but there have been some players worth discussing. Which players have surprised us the most through the first half of the 2019 season?

There have been several members of the Kansas City Royals who have pleasantly surprised fans this year. We’ve covered the most disappointing players to this point of the year, but now let’s get to the positive side of things with the players who have been nice surprises for the boys in blue.

MOST SURPRISING ROYALS

NUMBER 4 – CHESLOR CUTHBERT

Here’s an entry I didn’t think I’d write in 2019.

After Cheslor Cuthbert was demoted last year and failed to make the Opening Day roster this season, it appeared that he probably wouldn’t have much of an impact with the organization moving forward.

Well, Cuthbert has had 125 at bats this season and is slashing .288/.315/.432 with four home runs and 16 RBI. He saw more playing time while Lucas Duda and Hunter Dozier both spent time on the injured list.

Cuthbert contributed greatly during the 2016 season, but he dropped off over the next few years. That’s why his reemergence this year has been a big surprise for Royals fans.
