ROOKIES WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE IN 2019

NUMBER 1 – JUAN THORNHILL

The biggest rookie impact this year will be Juan Thornhill, who the Chiefs took in the second round. Thornhill has the ability to play both cornerback and safety, but the Chiefs will likely use him as a safety and he’ll be playing opposite Tyrann Mathieu, potentially giving KC one of the best safety duos in the league.

While Thornhill was taken after Mecole Hardman, he’s arguably the team’s best pick in the draft. He could have been a first round selection, but slid to the second round where the Chiefs were lucky to scoop him up.

The Chiefs NEED Thornhill to perform as well as he did in college because their Super Bowl hopes are hinging on the defense. If the defense can take the next step in 2019, then this team will be a force to be reckoned with.

The plan with Thornhill is to slot him in right away and he more than likely will be the only rookie starting on the field in week one of the 2019 season.
