POTENTIAL TRAP GAMES FOR MIZZOU FOOTBALL IN 2019

NUMBER 1 – SOUTH CAROLINA

Those darn Gamecocks always seem to have Missouri’s number, including three straight wins over the Tigers. Last year’s loss in Columbia, SC was especially frustrating, as Mizzou was the better team, but couldn’t pull out a victory despite having every opportunity to do so.

South Carolina being able to best MU even when the Tigers have the better team is really the only reason the Gamecocks make this list, especially as the number one entry. SC finished last season at 7-6 (including their bowl loss to West Virginia), good for fourth in the SEC East.

While the Gamecocks are returning some talent, there isn’t much buzz on them. Quarterback Jake Bentley and wide receiver Bryan Edwards are both coming back for their senior seasons, which gives South Carolina some veteran guidance on offense.

Missouri should squeak this one out, as it’s at home and against a team that they HAVE to be wanting some revenge against. It is worth noting, however, that the last time the two played on MU’s home turf was a game that South Carolina ended up running away with (31-13).

Those pesky Gamecocks!
