DANNY DUFFY

The first two guys on the list would be rentals for whoever traded for them, but that wouldn’t be the case with Danny Duffy. The 30-year old lefty is signed through the end of the 2021 season, so if a team wanted him, he’d be theirs for the rest of this year and then a two full seasons.

Duffy hasn’t been top notch this year, but he’s been serviceable. He’s probably a three or four starter on most teams, but because the Royals are the Royals, he’s their ace.

As of now, he has a 4.48 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with a 3-3 record in 62.1 innings pitched. The problem with Duffy throughout his career has been that he’s always getting bitten by the injury bug. He’s also very inconsistent on the mound, which has been frustrating.

I know the Royals love Duffy and vice versa, but he’s signed for two more years and this team isn’t winning anything over the next two years. That’s why if a team is willing to give them a few decent prospects in exchange for Duffy, they need to take them up on that. KC would probably have to eat a bit of Duffy’s remaining salary, but it’d still be worth it.

Duffy has given a lot to the Kansas City Royals, but it’s time to move on. If a team comes calling about Duffman, the Royals seriously need to consider listening.
