HOMER BAILEY

The Homer Bailey we’ve seen over the last three starts has been sensational and has pushed himself further into the trade discussions. Bailey is on a one-year deal, making him an even more appealing candidate for teams in need of starting pitching to trade for.

Overall, Bailey has a 4.61 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 80 innings pitched and a 7-6 record. While the overall numbers aren’t great, the last three starts by Bailey have been incredible and should be enough for teams to start inquiring about him.

During those three starts, Bailey has a 0.75 ERA throughout 25 innings (as Jeffrey Flanagan notes in the tweet below) and has proven himself as a viable third or fourth starter in a rotation for a team in need of starting pitching.

As for what playoff contenders could be targeting another starter, Texas, Boston, Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Colorado could all be options for Bailey.

Bailey would be a rental to whatever team acquires him, so the Royals probably don’t get a ton back in return, but assuming he continues this hot streak, or at least pitches decently, he’ll be in a new uniform by the end of the deadline.
