Kansas State football’s 2020 recruiting class is beginning to fill up with promising prospects during a recent strong run of recruiting by Chris Klieman and company.

In a move in the direction of the unknown for Kansas State football fans, good news and energy can be found on the recruiting trail during the summer months for the Wildcats.

Despite missing on some local Kansas talent, the Cats have been able to win their share of recruiting battles, landing multiple commitments in recent weeks strengthening what is shaping out to be a solid class for the Wildcats under first year head coach Chris Klieman.

With multiple recruits on the way for visits this summer and a big recruiting weekend scheduled for later this month, the Wildcats strong run on the recruiting trail certainly doesn’t appear to be over just yet.

In just the past few weeks, the Cats have landed multiple prospects they likely don’t land under the previous regime, including defensive lineman Ronald Triplette and linebacker Jeremiah Harris, both currently from the Houston area.

Under the previous regime, K-State would often pull off and divert attention elsewhere when a prospect received attention from other schools. Both Harris and Tripplette had other options, but were won over by the Cats.

Demarquese Hayes of Waco, Texas is a quick linebacker prospect that in a conference that loves to pass the football, Hayes could prove to be valuable and a productive prospect at linebacker.

Also now in the fold are local Kansas products in McPherson athlete Cody Shufflebean and Gardner lineman Taylor Warner. Shufflebean, who had offers from schools like Wisconsin, Virginia Tech and Colorado among others, appears likely plays defensive end for the Cats, but could also find his way to tight end while Warner appears likely target towards defensive tackle.

So who’s next to join the Kansas State football recruiting class?

June is a big recruiting month for the Cats, including the weekend of the 21st, in which multiple recruits and commits are scheduled to be in town. Recent commitments such as a Ronald Triplette and Jeremiah Harris are scheduled to be in town along with fullback/tight end Christian Moore.

Recruits that fans should be aware of include Houston defensive back Joseph Wilson, safety Ryan Kilburg of Park Ridge Illinois and offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery of Ruskin Height High School in Kansas City, Missouri. The Wildcats are aggressively recruiting the three, and all are potential future Cats that will be in Manhattan together on a visit.

Ersery especially would fill a huge need at offensive tackle, as the Wildcats were unable to land Turner Cochran (Nebraska) and Hayden Pauls (Iowa State).

Other names Cats fans should know if they don’t already include St. Louis defensive end/linebacker Lannell Carr, who after multiple tries finally was able to visit Manhattan on June 11th and Mason Richman of Blue Valley High School has received interest from Iowa, but could become a Cat to help fill offensive line depth concerns.

Wamego linebacker/ safety prospect Isiah Childs is an intriguing name and could commit soon if Kansas State is where he wants to attend college, interst

Tulsa Oklahoma running back Sevion Morrison is a back the Cats are chasing, but are competing with multiple other schools for his services. Regardless of how things end, the work, effort and thus far results have been something Cats fans are not accustomed to seeing but are certainly enjoying and hope to see more of in the future.
