The AFC West has some talented running backs in the division. Where would Damien Williams of the Kansas City Chiefs end up if we ranked the four running backs in the division?

While the running back position isn’t what it once was in the NFL, it’s still important to get that run game going. The Kansas City Chiefs have always been a team that cherishes having a solid running back at the helm.

So, when looking at the AFC West, how would the starting running backs be ranked heading into the 2019 season? Let’s take a look, starting from worst to first.

RANKING AFC WEST RUNNING BACKS

NUMBER 4 – JOSHUA JACOBS

The easiest entry on this list is the unproven guy, Joshua Jacobs. The Raiders spent one of their three first round selections on Jacobs, grabbing the Crimson Tide running back with the 24th overall pick.

Jacobs was an electric back during his time at the University of Alabama, but will that translate to the NFL? We’ve seen Alabama running backs not pan out in the pros due to not having that top notch offensive line blocking for them. Could that be the case with Jacobs?

The Raiders also have Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington, and Doug Martin on the depth chart, but Jacobs should be able to win the starting job. The Raiders didn’t take him in round one to not start him.

While Jacobs has the potential to become the best running back in the division, he’s unproven and that’s why he lands as the fourth best running back in the AFC West heading into 2019.
