RANKING AFC WEST QUARTERBACKS

NUMBER 1 – PATRICK MAHOMES

Is anyone surprised by this? For one, it’s a Kansas City blog, but even if it wasn’t, Patrick Mahomes still deserves to be number one on this list and even Chargers fans shouldn’t argue otherwise.

Mahomes took over for former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith this past season and dazzled in his new role, throwing for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. This was during his first full year as a starter, which adds to why it was an impressive feat.

Mahomes’ flashy numbers in 2018 earned him the league MVP award and fans everywhere are looking forward to watching his follow-up performance in 2019. He was able to shake the ugly Chiefs home playoff loss streak by putting the beatdown on the Colts and got KC to their first AFC Championship Game since the 1993 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs new signal caller was a blast to watch this past season, as he threw left-handed passes, no look passes, and deep passes that left all of us in awe. The guy was amazing, ’nuff said.

While the Chiefs ultimately fell short of making it to the Super Bowl in Mahomes’ first year, having the Texas Tech product under center for the 2019 season is why Chiefs Kingdom feels so strongly about the team’s Super Bowl chances moving forward.

As long as Mahomes is out on the field, this team has a chance to win a championship.
