RANKING AFC WEST QUARTERBACKS

NUMBER 2 – PHILIP RIVERS

Chiefs fans don’t want to admit it, but Philip Rivers is a darn good quarterback. Yes, he whines a lot and somehow trash talks without cussing, but let’s give credit where credit is due. Rivers is a beast. He’s still putting up insane numbers at age 37 and hasn’t missed a start since taking over the starting duties for the Chargers in 2006.

While the Chiefs had the Chargers’ and Rivers’ numbers over the last half decade, LA was finally able to steal a win this past season. Rivers played well in that game and had a small case to win the MVP last year.

Rivers finished 2018 throwing for 4,308 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Over the last two years, Rivers has limited his interceptions, which is what plagued him during the Chargers’ down years. Now that he’s cut those picks down, he’s back in the top tier of quarterbacks once again.

Rivers would have a shot to be the best quarterback in most other divisions, but unfortunately for him (not for Chiefs Kingdom though!), he has stiff competition in the AFC West.
