NUMBER TWO – ALEX GORDON

A year ago, the notion of Alex Gordon representing the Kansas City Royals in an All-Star Game would have been laughable. Now, however, it’s not funny at all. In fact, it could actually happen.

For one, Gordon is hitting well in 2019. He’s currently slashing .280/.370/.492 with nine homers and 37 RBI. That’s a far cry from the .245 he hit for the entire 2018 season.

Another reason Gordon has a good chance at making the midsummer classic is that, aside from Salvador Perez, he’s probably the most well-known Royal. He’s been in the league a long time and non-Royals fans know who he is. That will help him in the polls.

Gordon also plays in the outfield, which also helps his odds. Outfielders don’t get voted in by WHICH spot they play in the outfield and the American League has three open spots. Even though Gordon probably won’t be voted in as a starter, he’s a great late game replacement due to his stellar defense.

Gordon has a good chance of making it to Cleveland for the All-Star Game for all of these reasons and if this is his last season, it’d be a great note to go out on!
