NUMBER FOUR – ADALBERTO MONDESI

When it comes to potential superstars in Kansas City, Adalberto Mondesi fits the bill. He’s fast, a good hitter, and can play solid defense. He’s definitely an option to represent the Royals in Cleveland, but I have him at four due to the shortstop position being pretty stacked in the American League.

If Mondesi made it to the big game, it’d likely be as an alternate, but that still counts! The Royals shortstop is currently slashing .277/.311/.468 with five home runs and 41 RBI. He has 18 stolen bases, so maybe he ends up making an appearance in the All-Star Game as a pinch runner? Who knows?

Mondesi would be deserving of making it to his first All-Star Game, but the chances of him making it over the three guys listed ahead of him on here might not be the likeliest of scenarios.

What could potentially swing things in Mondesi’s favor, however, is that Astros shortstop Carlos Correa is out for the next six to eight weeks. If Mondesi continues to play at the level he’s playing at now, perhaps he could represent the boys in blue in the 2019 All-Star Game.
