AFC WEST ROOKIES TO WATCH OUT FOR – NUMBER 5: DREW LOCK

This one could be considered a stretch since there’s a chance Drew Lock doesn’t even see the field much as a rookie. With that said, however, it’ll be bittersweet for Chiefs fans because Lock played his college ball two hours from Kansas City at the University of Missouri.

Lock, who fell to the second round after being projected as a top ten pick, landed with the Broncos. Denver traded for former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco a few months before the draft, so more than likely, Flacco takes the snaps for the Broncos when the regular season kicks off.

Flacco wasn’t having a bad season for Baltimore last year, but wound up losing his job because then-rookie Lamar Jackson stepped in and only lost one game in the regular season. This all happened when Flacco was injured. He never took the field as a Raven again.

If Lock does see playing time early on, it’s either because Flacco is struggling or injured. That could be a good thing for the Chiefs because it’d mean the Broncos are desperate, but at the same time, if Lock ends up being Denver’s franchise signal caller, he could be taking it to the Chiefs defense for years to come.
