The KC Chiefs didn’t have a good defense in 2018 and it bit them in the butt when push came to shove. In order to be a legitimate Super Bowl threat in 2019, the Chiefs defense has to be much better.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a prolific offense in 2018, but the defense? Errr… Well, that wasn’t an area of strength. Sure, they had their good performances, but when it came down to it, they couldn’t get a stop in overtime and that cost this team a trip to the Super Bowl. It still hurts to talk about quite frankly.

The 2019 season is one with a lot of excitement for Chiefs Kingdom. Brett Veach has made strong efforts to rebuilding this defense and putting the team in the best position to win this year.

So, which defensive players need to up the ante in 2019? Let’s take a looky loo.

HONORABLE MENTION – TANOH KPASSAGNON

The Chiefs spent their second round pick on Tanoh Kpassagnon in the 2017 NFL Draft and he’s done next to nothing since arriving to Kansas City. Simply put – There wasn’t really a place for Kpassagnon in the Chiefs defense with Bob Sutton, but with Steve Spagnuolo in town now, perhaps things will be different.

HONORABLE MENTION: BREELAND SPEAKS

Breeland Speaks was the Chiefs’ second round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, but their first selection overall in that year’s draft. He did very little as a rookie with his biggest moment coming against the Patriots in the regular season when he didn’t strip the football from Tom Brady and allowed the 50-year old quarterback to score.
