Offensive Line

Made the Cut: Eric Fisher, Andrew Wylie, Austin Reiter, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Mitchell Schwartz, Cameron Erving, Nick Allegretti, Kahlil McKenzie

Notable Snubs: N/A

There’s really not a lot to say about the offensive line group. The top six seem to be a sure thing with the only question being who starts out of Wylie and Erving. After the top six, Nick Allegretti and Khalil McKenzie aren’t necessarily sure things, but they should be fairly safe bets to make the 53-man roster.

The only other question really is will eight linemen be enough? Eight is typically a little light for offensive linemen depth. Nine may be a more realistic number, but that ninth player is a shot in the dark as to who would come away with it and with nine linemen you’d have to release one of the other players on this list. With this in mind, the team will remain at eight offensive linemen for now.

Quarterback

Made the Cut: Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne

Notable Snubs: Chase Litton, Kyle Shurmur

The only sure thing here is the MVP, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has the starting spot under control, but who will back him up?

Chad Henne held off Chase Litton for the backup spot last season, but this is a new year with a more experienced Litton. There’s another young quarterback added to the mix as well this season in Kyle Shurmur, so there could be quite the competition for Henne this year.

If Litton beat out Henne for the backup job, it would create just over a million dollars in cap space. Litton is more experienced this year, so he has a chance of taking the spot from Henne, but spending one more season on the practice squad is probably more likely.

The Chiefs will probably give the edge to the more experienced veteran over Litton or Shurmur this season, but nevertheless, it should be a tight competition and a position to keep your eye on.
