NUMBER ONE – SAMMY WATKINS

Sammy Watkins was one of the biggest names on the free agent market last year and the Kansas City Chiefs were lucky he chose to sign with them.

In his inaugural season as a Chief, Watkins hauled in 40 receptions for 519 yards and three touchdowns. The biggest problem for Watkins last season, and for the duration of his career, is that he’s always injured.

Watkins started just nine regular season games for the Chiefs last season and appeared in ten total. When he was on the field, the Chiefs offense was on a whole other level though, and that’s what made Watkins’ 2018 campaign a successful one in Kansas City.

With Tyreek Hill‘s future in the league up in the air, Watkins might have an even bigger role in 2019 than we previously imagined. If Hill isn’t with the team, Watkins is propelled into the WR1 position with Demarcus Robinson and rookie Mecole Hardman behind him on the depth chart.

Even if Hill is with the team come the regular season, a suspension is likely. That means Watkins has to stay healthy and perform like a WR1. He’s certainly being paid like one, so time to live up to the bill.
