The KC Chiefs have a legitimate chance of making the Super Bowl in the 2019 season, but which offensive players really need to step up in order to make that happen?

The Kansas City Chiefs came oh so close to making it to the Super Bowl this past season, but their efforts weren’t enough. The offense was great pretty much all season long, but they couldn’t put up any points in the first half of the AFC Championship Game, which proved vital when push came to shove.

Fans are expecting the Chiefs to put up crazy offensive numbers again in 2019 and why wouldn’t they? This team was ridiculously good on that side of the ball last season and Patrick Mahomes ended up winning MVP. Yeah, in his first full year as a starter. He was that good.

So, which offensive players need to up the ante this upcoming season? Let’s take a look.

NUMBER THREE – CAMERON ERVING

Left guard might not seem like a season changing position and it really isn’t, BUT for the first time in most of our lives, the KC Chiefs have a franchise quarterback to protect. So yeah, left guard is kind of important for that reason alone.

The Chiefs brought in Cameron Erving  prior to the 2017 season and he only started four games that year, but appeared in 13 games total. He was a bigger part of the team in 2018, starting 13 games and appearing in 14 total.

The offensive line is mostly set in 2019, but left guard is the one iffy position. Erving is the likely answer to win the starting job and if he does win it, he’ll need to up his game because it’d be nice to keep Mahomes as upright as humanly possible.

The Chiefs drafted Nick Allegretti and while the Illinois product is a seventh round selection, drafting him shows that the Chiefs are continuing to find options along the line. That means Erving needs to be at the top of his game in 2019.
