Round 6, Pick 201: Rashad Fenton, Cornerback, South Carolina

In perhaps the Chiefs’ most perplexing decision of the draft, the team did not take a cornerback until the sixth round. Granted, the team traded away its first-rounder in the deal for Clark, and then its fifth-rounder to move up to select Hardman.

Yet, the Chiefs would have been better off taking a corner with its third-round selection–or keeping the fifth-rounder and taking a different wide receiver than Hardman in the second.

Regardless, with the team’s first selection on Friday, Veach grabbed Fenton, the former Gamecock who picked up three passes in 2018 and had five career interceptions. Sure, he provides depth, but that’s about it. If he sees much playing time in 2019, something has gone  awry in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuola’s first year in Kansas City.
