Cody Thompson, Wide Receiver (Toledo)

Cody Thompson is an all-around athlete, standing at 6’1″, 205 pounds, this kid can flat out play football. In high school, he was a dual-threat quarterback and punter, but was moved to receiver when he got to Toledo.

Imagine what Andy Reid could do with a player like Thompson, assuming he makes the team.

Thompson set a Toledo record with 30 touchdowns in his career. He is a two-time First-Team All-MAC selection and was a team captain. The Chiefs need help at the wide receiver position and this swiss-army knife type of player could help play a vital role.

Thompson just seems like a lunch pale and hat type of player, meaning he’s going to show up everyday and give everything he has to offer. Based on his college stats alone, he’s shown he can be consistent and has a willingness to contribute on special teams.

After doing the research on him, he’s easily become one of my favorite signings for the Chiefs out of this UDFA period.

I’ll be keeping a close eye on him during training camp and the preseason.
