The Raiders had nine total picks in this draft and it seemed like every time I turned my attention to the television that they were either picking or had traded a pick.
Oakland wasn’t playing around and attacked the defensive side of the ball pretty heavily. Six of their nine picks were defensive players, including five of their first six picks. Yes, they reached on Clelin Ferrell, who would have been around later on, but they obviously liked him, so they took their guy when they first had a chance.
Clearly, the Raiders were a fan of the National Championship game this past year, having selected four players from the game between Clemson and Alabama. Whether or not that pays off remains to be unseen.
Lastly, for all of the talk about Derek Carr not being the quarterback of the future in Oakland (or Las Vegas), the Raiders didn’t spend a single pick on a quarterback. Now that’s not to say they won’t take one high next year depending on how this season goes, but I did find that funny.
