LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

  • Round 1: Pick 28 – Jerry Tillery, DT (Notre Dame)
  • Round 2: Pick 60 – Nasir Adderley, S (Delaware)
  • Round 3: Pick 91 – Trey Pipkins, OT (Sioux Falls)
  • Round 4: Pick 130 – Drue Tranquill, LB (Notre Dame)
  • Round 5: Pick 166 – Easton Stick, QB (North Dakota State)
  • Round 6: Pick 200 – Emeke Egbule, LB (Houston)
  • Round 7: Pick 242 – Cortez Broughton, DT (Cincinnati)

The Chargers didn’t make a single trade and had a pick in every single round. Overall, they did a nice job adding to their already stacked defense and only added two offensive players, with one being a quarterback later on in the draft.

The Chargers probably should have addressed the tackle position earlier on, but Jerry Tillery is an absolute stud and they won’t regret that pick whatsoever. Nasir Adderley joins Derwin James in what could become the next “Legion of Boom” type secondary.

As I mentioned above, Los Angeles drafted a quarterback – Easton Stick – in the fifth round. It might have been a bit of a reach, as Stick probably would have been available in the sixth round, but the Eagle did take Clayton Thorson right after, so maybe they were worried he’d go to Philly and be with fellow North Dakota State alum Carson Wentz.

Stick won’t be knocking on the starting quarterback door anytime soon in LA, if ever, but good for the Chargers for at least adding another body at the position. Philip Rivers can’t play forever, so it’s time to start thinking about the future after he calls it a career.

While Easton Stick will be the talking point, defense is what put the Chargers on the map last season and they were smart to stick with adding to it in the 2019 NFL Draft.
