The 2019 NFL Draft has come and gone and the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the AFC West have added new players to their rosters. How did the draft go for all four AFC West squads?

While Kansas City Chiefs fans were obviously watching the 2019 NFL Draft to see what THEIR team was doing, they also probably couldn’t help themselves whenever a division rival was on the clock. Whoever that team takes will face the Chiefs twice a year for quite some time, so of course their selections are important.

Let’s take a look at how the AFC West did in this year’s draft, shall we?

DENVER BRONCOS

I hate to say it, but the Broncos had a nice draft.

They initially held the tenth overall pick in the draft, but traded back with the Steelers and took Noah Fant, who fills a position of need at tight end. The Broncos opted not to reach on a quarterback and it paid off, as Drew Lock fell to the second round and they were able to nab him with the 42nd overall selection (trading up to do so).

It’s frustrating that Denver took TWO local prospects in Lock and Dalton Risner, but Lock winding up in Denver was only a matter of time. Risner is also from Colorado, so that one isn’t as annoying.

The Broncos, like the Chiefs, only had six selections, but four of them were in the top 100 picks and they used them wisely for sure. As long as the Broncos don’t rush Lock into starting, they could be on their way to becoming a contender again.
