2019 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom First Round Mock Draft
2018 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft
Round 1: Pick 6 – Arizona Cardinals (Leigh Oleszczak)
The Cardinals are in a unique spot this year. They hold the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, which most teams tend to take a quarterback at. Arizona, however, traded up to draft Josh Rosen a year ago and despite a rough rookie season, their league-worst record wasn’t all on Rosen.
So, the Cardinals could have stayed put at number one, taken Kyler Murray (more than likely) or they could have fielded offers, stayed with Rosen moving forward, and gained picks in the process to rebuild their young team.
After two big time offers from the Giants and the Broncos, Arizona opted to go with the Giants’ deal, gaining two first round picks this year in the process. Their first of those two picks was Ed Oliver out of Houston, who will instantly boost that Cardinals defensive line.
Arizona was going to get a solid defensive player with this pick no matter what, but Oliver is a tremendous get at the sixth overall pick and to gain a second first rounder only makes this selection even sweeter for the Cardinals.
Staff Reaction: The Cardinals trading down to pick #6, adding two first round picks AND getting Ed Oliver could be the best move of the draft. Oliver adds much need pass rush help and could blossom into a perennial Pro-Bowl caliber player. – Kole
