Kansas City Chiefs: Ranking every first round pick in franchise history
RANKING EVERY FIRST ROUND PICK IN CHIEFS HISTORY
NUMBER 23 – MARCUS PETERS (Amber)
Marcus Peters, drafted in 2015, was incredible from the beginning of his NFL career and has since
shown no signs of slowing down. As a rookie, Peters had a league-leading eight interceptions,
53 tackles, 26 defended passes, and earned himself the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.
The star cornerback is a two-time Pro Bowler, who has led the league by far with 21 interceptions over the last three NFL seasons (including two in the postseason). The runner-up has only 14.
The Chiefs won big with this pick.
Where they lost, however, is when they traded away one of the most talented young cornerbacks in the league along with a sixth-round draft pick to the Rams for the measly package of a 2018 fourth-round selection and a 2019 second-rounder.
It’s not absolutely certain exactly why the trade was made, but what is for certain is that Kansas City lost out on a potential long run of sensational defensive talent.
