ROUND 7: PICK 2 (216TH OVERALL)

With their final pick in the 2019 NFL Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs decide to add some depth along the offensive line. They select Mitch Hyatt out of Clemson with the 216th overall pick.

Hyatt, an All-American and four-year starter at left tackle, would probably be a bit of a project to start off with. Marino of The Draft Network suggested that a move to center would benefit Hyatt the most if he wants a long career in the pros and it just so happens that the Chiefs could be looking for a new center in a few years.

In nearly all of my mock drafts this year, I’ve gone with an offensive lineman in the seventh round. It’s an area where injuries occur frequently and having depth there is important. Hyatt would be a depth piece, but hopefully the Chiefs could get something out of him in the future.

What analysts are saying:

"When Hyatt finds success, it’s generally on the move or by taking advantage of angles in the run game. For those reasons, his best fit likely comes in a zone blocking scheme at the next level. A move to center may be Hyatt’s best course to having a lasting career in the NFL. -Joe Marino, The Draft Network (see link above)"
