ROUND 6: PICK 41 (214TH OVERALL)

By the sixth round, the Chiefs are hoping to find depth and/or special teams aces. That’s exactly the kind of player they could acquire with Drue Tranquill out of Notre Dame.

Tranquill, a five-year linebacker at Notre Dame, had himself a nice campaign in 2018. He notched 86 tackles and three and a half sacks in year five for the Fighting Irish. While his size doesn’t exactly scream “NFL star”, Tranquill could provide exactly what I referenced above: Depth and special teams help.

Plus, the Chiefs need about all the help they can get on defense, so drafting defensive depth late in the draft isn’t a bad play at all.

What analysts are saying:

"Tranquill is a strong, tough football player who loves to play the game. What evaluators are going to see is a player who has below-average size, recovery athleticism, and man cover skills. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"
