Kansas City Chiefs: Final 2019 NFL Mock Draft
ROUND 6: PICK 28 (201ST OVERALL)
Returning to the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs go with Greg Gaines in round six. The Washington defensive lineman spent four years playing for the Huskies and now could provide a solid depth piece to whatever team opted to draft him.
Gaines was a reliable starter during his time at Washington, starting double digit games all four years. As a senior, he compiled 56 tackles and four and a half sacks.
Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network pointed out that Gaines might not be a great option to use on third down. On earlier downs, however, he could be a nice run stopper and that’s exactly what the Chiefs need, as their run stopping ability was atrocious last year, and… Well, the last five years honestly.
What analysts are saying:
"Gaines’ lack of length and pass rush capabilities will keep him off the field on third downs but he can be an early down fixture for teams looking to anchor vs. the run. -Kyle Crabbs, The Draft Network (see link above)"
