ROUND 5: PICK 29 (167TH OVERALL)

The Kansas City Chiefs need depth at tight end, but luckily for them, this year’s draft class is STACKED at the tight end position. That means they can wait until Day 3 to find their backup tight end.

The keyword there is backup, as the Chiefs have Travis Kelce as their main man. Behind him, however, is slim pickings. Blake Bell was signed in free agency, but he’s on his fourth team in five years, which kind of speaks for itself.

With pick number 167, the KC Chiefs select Caleb Wilson out of UCLA. Wilson had a nice junior season and opted to forego his senior year to enter the draft early. He rounded out 2018 with 60 catches for 965 yards and four touchdowns.

While this might seem like a reach of a pick, the Chiefs don’t need an immediate starter at tight end. Kelce and Bell would be able to help him with his development and production moving forward and that could be a big payoff in a year or two.

What analysts are saying:

"Wilson is a pass-catching tight end only, but his ball skills are currently below par. His lower-body tightness will limit his effectiveness underneath, but he proved at the combine he has speed as a second- and third-level target. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"
