POTENTIAL PRIMETIME GAMES IN 2019

NUMBER 1 – NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Unfortunately, the Patriots top this list. Mahomes went 0-2 against the eventual Super Bowl champs and 2019 is his chance to get a W against them. If the Chiefs and Patriots do square off in primetime, it’ll be at Gillette Stadium once again, but the Chiefs did knock off New England there to kick off the 2017 season.

It’s already been announced that the Packers and Bears will open the season on that Thursday night, but the Patriots will get the Sunday night slot. The Chiefs are an easy favorite to be in that game due to these two playing in the AFC Championship Game last year, but also because the Patriots don’t host many other enticing teams.

The only other team that could make sense there is the Cowboys, due to their nationwide brand and popularity. The Browns aren’t going to be on Sunday Night Football to open the year and if they are, then oh my gosh how sad.

The Chiefs and Patriots might not be the opening weekend game on Sunday night, but they’ll meet in primetime at some point in 2019. You can bet on it.
