  • There is speculation that new Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury may want to take Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray with the first pick in the draft. If this happens, it would certainly mark the end in Arizona for the 2018 draft’s number ten overall pick, Josh Rosen. Rosen’s name has been associated with the future of the New York Giants when Eli Manning’s career comes to an end.

If Murray is picked number one overall with Rosen still on the roster, Arizona general manager Steve Keim will likely be getting more phone calls about Rosen. Teams like the Giants, the Steelers, or the Chargers are certainly already considering their futures when their veteran starters call it quits. Rosen to the Giants would be okay, but Rosen to the Chargers or Steelers could spell trouble for the Chiefs.

Although unlikely, Kansas City could use their buying power to acquire Rosen from Arizona while on his rookie contract, while he’s still relatively cheap. After spending a season or two in a stable system, he could then be used as trade bait, similar to the Jimmy Garoppolo scenario during the 2017 season.

This would also give Kansas City the power to keep Rosen away from other AFC threats such as the Steelers, Chargers, or Patriots, not to mention having a young star as a backup in case he’s needed.
