Mizzou Football: Ten NFL teams for wide receiver Emanuel Hall

Carolina Panthers
Round 3, Picks 77 & 100
Last season, quarterback Cam Newton fought a losing battle against a shoulder injury that ultimately cost him the final games of the season. The Panthers finished 7-9 with their leading receiver being Christian McCaffrey, who is not a wide receiver. He’s a running back, and while he caught over 100 passes out of the backfield, he averaged only 8.7 yards-per-reception. Still, he led the team in receiving yards with 867.
Then, this offseason, the Panthers lost wide receiver Devin Funchess in free agency to the Colts. While Funchess didn’t light opposing defenses on fire in 2018, he still caught 44 passes for 549, both good for third on the team behind McCaffrey and wide receiver D.J. Moore.
Moore was a rookie last year, and he’s now paired with Curtis Samuel (a 2017 second-rounder) as the team’s top two wide receivers. The Panthers need more than those two, and since they’ve so far avoided the position in free agency, watch for Carolina to draft a wide receiver or two.
Their first third-rounder, at No. 77, almost lines up perfectly with Hall’s rankings. Even if there is a run on wide receivers, the Panthers could easily package another late round pick with No. 77 to move up to select Hall. Or, if the group as a whole begins to fall, there’s a chance the Panthers could get him at No. 100.
Regardless, Emanuel Hall would go well with two other young receivers in Moore and Samuel. The quartet of McCaffrey-Moore-Samuel-Hall, together with a repaired Newton, could enable the Panthers to reclaim the NFC South in 2019.
