New England Patriots

Round 2, Pick 64; Round 3, Pick 73

Tom Brady may be the best quarterback who’s ever played, but he’s gotta have somebody to throw the ball to. Sure, Julian Edelman is still around, and he had an outstanding postseason last year. But with Josh Gordon long gone and Rob Gronkowski retired (at least for now), the Patriots are, once again, short on wide receivers.

So taking Emanuel Hall at No. 64 or, more likely, No. 73, makes sense. He would add a completely different component to the passing game than does Edelman, and his speed on the outside would open up the field for Patriots running backs to take advantage in the aerial assault.

Hall would be a great value for New England in the third round. Then comes the hard part: earning Brady’s trust. If he does that, Hall will have struck gold.
