The Kansas City Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Opening Day. What were the biggest takeaways from the 2019 season opener at the K?

Baseball season is officially upon us and the Kansas City Royals are 1-0! With a scheduled off day for Friday, let’s take a look at some observations from the first game of the 2019 season for the boys in blue.

BRAD KELLER SURE WAS STELLAR

Yes, I’m going with the corny route here because I’m lame, but you know who’s not lame? Brad Keller isn’t lame. The 23 year old got the nod to start on Opening Day and he didn’t disappoint.

Keller went seven innings and only allowed two hits while striking out five batters and only walking one guy. His performance gives him a glorious 0.00 ERA and how could anyone find anything to gripe about with Keller’s performance? The guy was sensational.

We all have high hopes for Keller this season after he had a nice rookie season last year, but for him to regress a bit wouldn’t be crazy. Yeah, Keller looked anything but a regression candidate on Thursday and while this was only one game and a small sample size, it’d sure be exciting if he could become the new ace for the Kansas City Royals.
