Opening Day for the Kansas City Royals is finally here! What should Royals fans be watching for as the boys in blue take the field for the first time in 2019?

The first official sign that spring is coming is whenever Major League Baseball Opening Day takes place! For the Kansas City Royals, that time has finally come.

With first pitch set to happen at 3:15 Kauffman Stadium time, let’s dive into what Royals fans should be keeping a close eye on as the good guys battle the pesky Chicago White Sox.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH ON ROYALS OPENING DAY

NUMBER 5 – RYAN O’HEARN

One of the surprising players from a season ago was Ryan O’Hearn, who finally got an opportunity in the big leagues. O’Hearn did well as a rookie, slashing .262/.353/.597 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI in 170 plate appearances.

The hope for O’Hearn moving forward is that he can play decent and man first base for the next couple of years. Once Nick Pratto is ready to make his MLB debut, perhaps O’Hearn can be moved to designated hitter, but for now, first base is the plan.

O’Hearn doesn’t necessarily have to have a great day on Thursday, but it’d be nice to see some flash from him on Opening Day.
