Targets for the Chiefs’ Second Round Pick – Continued

Chase Winovich, EDGE (Michigan)

Chase Winovich could be an excellent second round selection for the Kansas City Chiefs. He has decent size and great speed and is coming off of two straight seasons of a 90+ overall grade by Pro Football Focus (see tweet below). Earlier, it was referenced how Brian Burns clocked the third fastest 40 time for the EDGE position. Right behind him, in fourth place, was Chase Winovich.

He has less concerns than first round talent, Jachai Polite, and he could turn into a first round-type talent. He has tremendous upside and can be grabbed with a second round pick instead of a first rounder, so this is one of my favorite targets for the Chiefs. Winovich will likely be an above average rusher and a great run stopper and could immediately step in to help the Chiefs.

Charles Omenihu, EDGE/Defensive Lineman (Texas)

There are two things that I really like about Charles Omenihu. He is versatile and still fairly raw. He will probably have his most success at defensive end, but can also play on the interior as well. Omenihu sometimes lacks good instincts and quick decision-making, but has the size and physical abilities to overcome those flaws most of the time.

If he can improve his instincts and decision-making abilities under the direction of NFL coaches, he could develop into a great pass rusher. He will likely be available for the Chiefs in the second round and he could end up a being another draft steal.
