Targets for the Chiefs’ Second Round Pick

Rock Ya-Sin, Cornerback (Temple)

Rock Ya-Sin’s draft position is difficult to judge. There have been mock drafts where he goes in the third round, a bunch where he goes early to mid-second round, and he even was selected in the first round in McShay’s mock draft.

He is a tall and lengthy, physical corner back with respectable speed and coverage skills. The best part about him is that he is good enough to be a solid cornerback at the next level as he is currently, but he is also still pretty raw and if he can improve on his technique he could quickly upgrade from being a good player to a great player.

If Ya-Sin is available to the Chiefs at one of their second round picks, they should definitely consider him especially if they go with a pass rusher in the round one.

Nasir Adderley, Safety (Deleware)

Nasir Adderley’s draft projection is kind of all over the place like Ya-Sin’s. He has gone in the first round in some mock drafts and mid-late second round in others. In Peter Schrager’s mock draft, Adderley actually went the Chiefs at number 29 overall.

However, with the rise of Taylor Rapp and Juan Thornhill‘s draft stocks, Adderley is more likely to be available late into the second round. EDGE and cornerback are more urgent needs for the Chiefs, but if both of those positions have been addressed and Adderley is still available at the 63rd overall pick he would be a great selection.

One of my favorite things about Adderley is that he can play both cornerback and safety. If selected in the second round the Chiefs would be getting a very versatile and athletic player with good size and could turn into a steal.
