ROUND 2: PICK 31 (63RD OVERALL)

The Chiefs essentially have back to back picks in the second round, though there is a team picking in between them. Still – This makes things interesting for them in round two.

This pick was challenging, as the best players available weren’t really at a position of need for the Chiefs. The players available at positions of need would have been big time reaches for the Chiefs.

In real life, this would be when the Chiefs would need to trade down in the draft. Unfortunately, that’s not an option in Fanpeak’s mock simulator, so the Chiefs kept their pick at 63rd overall and went with Riley Ridley out of Georgia.

We don’t know the whole story behind Tyreek Hill as of now, but even if he is on the team when 2019 begins, the Chiefs could still use another receiver. Sammy Watkins is great when healthy, but that’s the problem. He’s seldom healthy.

Mock Draft: Chiefs Add Good Mix of Offense and Defense. light. Must Read

Ridley was a red zone target last year for the Bulldogs, grabbing nine touchdowns as a junior. He had 559 yards last season, but the red zone numbers are what should grab KC’s attention. He could become what Sammy Watkins is SUPPOSED to be for the Chiefs.
