Sporting Kansas City is set to have a great 2019 season. The team is returning the majority of their roster that earned them the number one seed in the Western Conference last season, as well as adding some exciting new players.

Among this talented roster that is deep in every position, with seasoned veterans and spunky teenagers playing alongside one another, there are a few select Sporting KC players that will be especially interesting to watch this season.

For reasons such as being a substantial contributor in a contract year, a significant new addition, or a young rising star, seven players distinguish themselves as a player that any Sporting KC fan will want to keep tabs on this year.

SPORTING KC PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2019 – KELYN ROWE

Kelyn Rowe certainly falls in the “significant new addition” category. The 27-year-old midfielder was just acquired this December via a trade from New England, after years of Vermes trying to successfully get a trade for him. Rowe struggled with the Revolution in 2018, having a career low year in a system that failed to properly utilize his skill set.

Now Rowe is set to shine in Kansas City under Vermes’s high-pressure system as a major part of the midfield rotation that can offer an extra edge on SKC’s attack. Though already approaching his 28th birthday, Rowe’s signs of versatility, creativity, and flair handling the ball shows that his value is far from maxed out.

The flexible midfielder tirelessly creates scoring opportunities and will shoot from anywhere, which makes him one of my seven players to watch this season.
