What to look for in 2019 and beyond

More from Kansas State Wildcats

Despite the fact the defense far outperformed the offense in 2018, there are still a lot of questions I am watching for this spring, but let’s not completely ignore the offensive issues.

Can Thompson take control of the new offense and his play take off under the new staff? Will the new running backs be able to ‘carry the load’ for the Wildcats this season?

Do the Cats have the depth on both sides of the line to replace the multiple seniors that will be graduating after this season? Is there enough speed in the defensive backfield to keep up with the offenses in the pass happy Big12 conference? Literally, can the Cats defense keep up with the offenses?

I’m looking and following these positions this spring, looking out for surprises and players that have perhaps earned longer looks from a new coaching staff. It certainly is an exciting time for Wildcat fans to see what this new staff can do with the talent on hand and what is coming in.
