Replacing Dalton Risner is a challenge but an important position is set for an overhaul after this upcoming season.

The Wildcats must replace Dalton Risner at right tackle, a starter basically since he walked on campus, along both the interior and the right side of the offensive line. Who will step in at the right tackle spot will be something to keep an eye on for the Wildcats, as the team’s best player on offense has to be replaced.

Also, current starters Scott Frantz, Tyler Mitchell and Adam Holtorf enter their senior seasons and will need to be replaced after this upcoming season. What does the depth at the position appear to be long-term?

Sophomore Josh Rivas stepped in last season and saw significant snaps. Underclassmen Aidan Mills, Shane Cherry, Harrison Creed, Christian Duffie, Kaitori Leveston along with Rivas will look to find position themselves for playing time this season and become starters in future years.

The offensive line will need to have a good season if the offense is to rebound after a disappointing 2018. With at least three senior starters, it’s certainly not completely out of the question the offensive line as a group can perform well enough to keep Thompson upright throwing the ball and find running lanes for Gilbert and company to find room to run.
