Version Two Roster

As mentioned on the previous page, you will only see 42 players on this depth chart because I am leaving room for ten rookies and one wild card free agent signing. The Chiefs had ten rookies on the final 53-man active roster last season and have two more draft picks this season than they did last season, so I don’t think ten rookies on the active roster is a stretch by any means. I discussed this in Version One, but again, here are the positions of need in the draft:

  • 1-2 offensive linemen (KC carried ten offensive linemen last year and currently have eight signed, so one more would suffice, but two would give them the same make up as last season)
  • 1-2 running backs (had four active at the end of last season and two currently signed)
  • One tight end
  • 1-2 (4-3 scheme) outside linebackers
  • One defensive end
  • One defensive tackle
  • At least two cornerbacks

Again, this roster would leave the Chiefs with $13,318,062 in cap space and one spot roster spot to fill. This leaves more room to work with than what was left over in my first roster predictions. It is very possible to sign a veteran free agent and still have cap left over to carry into the season for emergency purposes.

This should be a busy month for the Chiefs! The next big date to keep an eye on is March 15th. This is the day the Chiefs will have to make their decision on whether or not the want to release Eric Berry with the post-June first designation.

Stay tuned for what should be an exciting offseason!
