Kansas City Chiefs: Realistic look at 2019 Chiefs roster – Version 2
By Shade Piper
What to do with Dee Ford
As mentioned earlier, Dee Ford has now officially been franchise tagged, which amounts to $15.4 million for this season. This, however, does not mean that Ford will be a Chief next season. According to Adam Schefter, the Chiefs are willing to trade Ford.
Although they are “listening” to offers on Dee Ford, it would be highly unlikely that the Chiefs get rid of both Justin Houston and Dee Ford freshly after leading the league in sacks as a team. Houston’s days as a Chief are numbered, so this probably ensures that Dee Ford is safe unless they are blown away with a trade offer.
It would be surprising, to say the least, should they not have at least one of the two on the roster at the start of the coming season. Since Ford has already been signed, his contract is already included into the books in my lineup, so we are still at $27.6 million in cap space with all the moves up to this point.
