Every fan of every sport has an opinion, and most are very passionate about sharing them. Debating strategy, personnel, and player skill level is one of my favorite things. It is rare when sports fans can all agree, as KC Chiefs fans know.

One thing Kansas City Chiefs fans can agree upon is that the Chiefs defense in 2018 was laughably bad. That is why it was strange for fans of the team to see the headlines that the Chiefs were entertaining offers for both Dee Ford AND Justin Houston.

Most people were shocked. Maybe one of the two players, but surely not both. This upset some people, and the common sentiment was how could the defense  possibly improve if we dismantled the one good thing about the unit; the pass rush.

At first glance, this is indeed head scratching.

Dig deeper, and purging the roster of both Houston and Ford seems not only logical, but it is the downright best path to take to make this defense, and the team as a whole, better in 2019 and beyond.
