Depth can be addressed and perhaps a future gem or two can be discovered during the Saturday portion of the draft.

Blace Brown, Cornerback, Troy

Arguably my favorite player for the Chiefs on the third day of the draft is Blace Brown. A former high school walk-on wide receiver that turned into a solid cornerback prospect, Brown was projected to be going pro for the 2018 draft before a knee injury at the end of the 2017 Troy season kept him in school.

While Brown doesn’t appear likely to be a star, there certainly is a lot there to like. He’s, at minimum, a willing tackler with good size, quick feet and experience playing various types of defense. Brown is certainly one of my favorite draft ‘crushes’ of the draft season and a name I will certainly be following throughout the draft process.

Miles Sanders, Running Back, Penn State

If Brown was my favorite draft crush, then the Penn State junior is a close second and as the draft process evolves, is gaining ground. A blend of good size, speed and versatility has Miles Sanders as perhaps the best fit for the Chiefs on offense at running back after Joshua Jacobs, who is likely off the board before the Chiefs are on the board to make a selection.

The junior spent the first two seasons of his career as a backup to Giants running back Saquon Barkley and was a very solid running back during his junior season. Obviously there are other running backs in the draft, but Sanders strikes me as an ideal player for the Chiefs to target and could potentially go as high as the third round and likely doesn’t get through round four.
