ROUND 2: PICK 29 (61ST OVERALL)

As I alluded to on the previous slide, the Chiefs need help at both cornerback and safety. Since they took a corner in the first round, naturally they went with a safety in the second round. The pick is Taylor Rapp out of Washington.

Rapp spent three years at Washington, totaling 168 tackles, seven sacks, and six defended passes. He’s a fast guy, as showcased at the Combine. Both of the Chiefs picks for their secondary so far both have blazing speed that could definitely help them defend the pass.

Eric Berry won’t need surgery and hopefully that means he’ll be able to contribute and help out in the secondary next season. Jordan Lucas had good moments last year, but otherwise, there’s not much to be excited about at safety.

Rapp is a young, promising prospect who could step in and make plays from day one. This would be another solid pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 NFL Draft.
