ROUND 1: PICK 29 (29TH OVERALL)
It doesn’t matter if the Chiefs opt to draft a cornerback or a safety with their first pick. What matters is that both of those positions need upgrading and Greedy Williams would more than help at cornerback.
Williams, a two-year starter at LSU, had 71 tackles, 19 passes defensed and eight interceptions during his time in Baton Rouge. Williams falling this far doesn’t seem that likely, especially not after flying through his 40-time during the Combine.
Top official 40 times for cornerbacks at #NFLCombine:
— NFL Draft (@NFLDraft) March 4, 2019
1. Jamel Dean, @AuburnFootball, 4.30
t2. Mark Fields, @ClemsonFB, 4.37
t2. Greedy Williams, @LSUfootball, 4.37
4. Isaiah Johnson, @UHCougarFB, 4.40
5. Sean Bunting, @CMU_Football, 4.42
Williams’ speed mixed with the Chiefs’ need at cornerback makes this an easy pick. Kendall Fuller is the only for sure starter at corner next season and while Charvarius Ward had promising moments as a rookie, Greedy Williams could jump in and be an immediate contributor in the secondary.
This would be a pick that Chiefs fans would be thrilled about.
