MINOR LEAGUERS WHO COULD MAKE IMPACT – RICHARD LOVELADY

Ahhh, the player with the name everyone secretly (maybe not so secretly) giggles at. Richard Lovelady is being hyped as the next big receiver for the Royals and that’s something that should excite everyone.

Lovelady currently has a 3.00 ERA in three innings pitched, allowing one run and five hits so far. He’s struck out four batters though, so he’s perfect bullpen material. He  won’t make the Opening Day roster, but hopefully the team calls him up at some point in 2019.

The 3.00 ERA isn’t anything to panic about, as he’s had limited appearances so far. Lovelady is only 23 years old and had a 2.47 ERA with the Storm Chasers last year. He pitched in 73 innings and had nine saves in Omaha in 2018.

While Lovelady has the potential to be a future closer, don’t count on that being this year. It’d be great to see him get a shot out of the pen at some point though.
