MINOR LEAGUERS WHO COULD MAKE IMPACT – JOSH STAUMONT

Josh Staumont should, at some point, see the major league mound in 2019. The fast-throwing righty was added to the 40-man roster in November and could provide a lot of juice out of the Royals bullpen this season.

Even though Staumont was drafted with the hopes of being a starter, the Royals are pretty much set there for 2019. Last year, the second round pick was transitioned into more of a reliever role, which is for the best right now.

Staumont has pitched three clean innings for the boys in blue this spring and has only surrendered one hit while striking out two batters. He has yet to walk anyone. Staumont is going to make the team, but the question is will he be on the Opening Day roster or not?

That all depends on how many outfielders the Royals opt to have on their initial roster, but even if Staumont isn’t pitching at the K in March, he’ll be on the team within a few weeks of the season.

The 25-year old who the Royals took in round two in 2015 is ready to contribute to the big leagues. Time to give him that chance.
