Terrill Hanks, New Mexico State

Terrill Hanks is almost exactly what the Chiefs are looking for in a middle linebacker. The 6’2″, 234 pound beast finished his college career with 391 tackles (164 solo), 43.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 14 passes defensed and eight interceptions.

Hanks stole the show at the Senior Bowl, according to Gavino Borquez over at draftwire.com. Borquez writes,

"Hanks is a smooth mover in coverage, showing he can match up with running backs, tight ends, and even slot wide receivers. On a few reps, he ran with wideouts in stride, limiting separation in man coverage."

Gosh, don’t you wish the Chiefs had a guy who could’ve kept up with running backs or slot receivers in the AFC Championship game?

Hanks is a converted safety whose fallen under the radar because of his small school reputation. Having recorded over 100 tackles in three consecutive seasons, Hanks is a player the Chiefs could be eyeing in the 3rd-4th round and would be a great selection for Spagnuolo’s new defense.

A guy who can not only tackle, but move in space and cover people with limited separation. Sign me up for that.
