Kansas City Chiefs: Potential Linebacker Prospects in 2019 NFL Draft
Devin White, LSU
The 6’1″, 240 pound All-American linebacker had huge expectations at the start of his junior season and he didn’t disappoint. Devin White finished with 123 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. The Butkus Award winner was once a running back who converted to linebacker once he got to college.
Those skills combined with his smarts and leadership have all lead to one of the best inside linebacker prospects the league has seen in a long time. He is undoubtedly a three-down player on any defense and has the potential to be a Pro Bowl player in his rookie season.
Most mock drafts have him going in the top ten, making White an unrealistic target for the Chiefs picking at 29. Mel Kiper Jr. has White as his number three overall prospect, so you can see the type of respect he is getting.
Landing White somehow would be a dream come true for the Chiefs and he would immediately make a difference. The only scenario you could see happening is if something like what happened with Derwin James last draft for the Los Angeles Chargers.
If White somehow slips down near the 20th pick then maybe, MAYBE, the Chiefs make a move up to get him.
